The uninhabited island of Ilhéu Laja Branca ( Cape Verde Creole : Idjéu Laja Branka ) is located about 500 m north of Maio in Cape Verde . The island without vegetation, which was formerly connected to its larger neighboring island, is about 400 m long and 300 m wide.
