Ilira (* 29. October 1994 as ilira Gashi in Brienz , self spelling ilira ) is a Swiss singer and songwriter who records under the label Four Music is under contract.

Life

Ilira grew up as the daughter of Kosovar Albanian parents in Brienz, Switzerland on Lake Brienz . Ilira graduated from high school in a music-oriented special class of the Goethe-Gymnasium / Rutheneum in Gera and was living in the boarding school of Gera at the time. Ilira currently lives in Berlin.

Career

Her musical career began in elementary school, where she made various appearances. As a teenager she made her first appearances on Swiss and Albanian TV. In 2010, Ilira and her band The Colors at the time took part in the Swiss qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest and took third place with the song Home . She was particularly successful through Instagram , where she published various video snippets that caught the attention of Prince Pi , among others .

Ilira then moved to Germany and signed a management contract with 50/50 and a publishing contract with Sony / ATV Music Publishing . She then toured Germany. Among other things, she performed at the Holi Festival .

In August 2018 the artist signed with Four Music . Her debut single Whisper My Name was released on August 24, 2018 . She achieved her first chart placement together with Alle Farben and the single Fading , which reached number 16 in the German single charts. The song was co-written by Ilira herself. The song reached number 1 in the German airplay charts and stayed there for a total of four weeks. The video for this was shot in Los Angeles under the direction of Zak Stolz.

Ilira is best known for her four-octave voice. Ilira is currently working on her first EP in Los Angeles, London and Berlin.

On December 31, 2019, she performed at the New Year's Eve party at the Brandenburg Gate . She had another appearance in Germany on June 1, 2020 in the ZDF television garden .
