Ilmari Taipale

Ilmari Taipale ( Ilmari Richard Taipale; born May 18, 1928 in Tampere , † March 22, 2008 in Porvoo ) was a Finnish medium and long-distance runner .

At the European Athletics Championships in Brussels in 1950 he was fourth over 1500 m and at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 twelfth over 5000 m .

In 1956 he retired at the Olympic Games in Melbourne over 5000 m in the run and came over 10,000 m in 22nd place.

Twice he was Finnish champion over 800 m (1950, 1951), once over 1500 m (1950) and three times over 5000 m (1954-1956).
