Ilse Seidel (born August 11, 1905 in Walsum as Ilse Tenter ; † December 4, 1997 ) was the wife of the Bavarian politician Hanns Seidel (1901–1961) and during his tenure as Bavarian Prime Minister from October 1957 to January 1960 First Lady of the Free State .

Career

Tenter was born in Walsum on the Lower Rhine and came to Aschaffenburg with her family in 1920 , where her father Johann Tenter took over the post of director of the Aschaffenburg pulp works in 1939 .

Both married on August 20, 1929 in Königsberg, East Prussia . The marriage resulted in two sons.

As a co-founder, she was then from January 1967 to December 1982 board member of the CSU- affiliated Hanns Seidel Foundation .

Honors

On December 20, 1982 Ilse Seidel became an honorary member of the Hanns Seidel Foundation alongside Alfons Goppel and Carl Knott . She was also awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.
