Rojda is a native Kurd . In order to find her place and her place in society, she decides to report to the Bundeswehr. When her mother escapes from Iraq and her sister is missing there, she lets herself be transferred to her old home to look for her sister. There she and her unit train Kurdish Peshmerga fighters for the fight against the so-called Islamic State . Nobody should know that she is actually looking for her missing sister. Working in her old home allows her to see her situation in a whole new light. And suddenly she is in the middle of a fight and has to decide.

The film is a German-Greek co-production by Pallas Film , The Match Factory and View Master Films in collaboration with Arte and a co-production with ZDF ( Das kleine Fernsehspiel ) and the Greek public broadcaster Elliniki Radiofonia Tileorasi (ERT). Producers were Thanassis Karathanos , Martin Hampel , Michael Weber , Viola Fügen and Kostas Lambropoulos . Falko Lachmund was responsible for the camera, David J. Rauschning for the editing and Florian Tessloff for the music . The project was funded by the Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein , the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW with 350,000 euros, the DFFF , the Greek Film Center , EKOME SA and The Post Republic . The development was supported by the Filmförderungsanstalt (FFA).

The fire was shot in 2018 in Greece, Germany ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) and Iraq.
