Career

In Paris, Imaani developed a great interest in music production and learned his first skills there. Finally, when he was 16, he bought an E-mu SP-1200 and started producing his first songs. At the age of 18 he released his first single: Dis Poem - a rework of the famous poem by the Jamaican dub poet and radio presenter Mutabaruka . This gave Imaani his consent to reproduce the poem in a house song, which was actually intended for the US / UK audience and was marketed by Imaani himself through a self-press. However, it took almost ten years for the song to finally gain fame as well-known house DJ Dennis Ferrer used it as the opener on his sets around the world. This song made it into the top 10 of the Beatport and Traxsource charts and ultimately brought Imaani the success he had hoped for: He received further inquiries and produced for various US labels. Today Imaani Brown works mainly for two producer teams from New York, who in turn produce remixes for music labels in the electronic field in the USA and Japan.

Imaani Brown was an integral part of the Quatsch Comedy Club until 2017 and performed both live and on TV. However, in order to focus on his book, he retired from the comedy business that same year. Among other things, he was the author of the ProSieben show " Applaus und Raus ", which was awarded the Grimme Prize in 2017 .

Imaani played a small guest role in Helene Hegemann's film Axolotl Overkill . Helene Hegemann also directed the trailer for his book: Hallo Deutschland .
