Music style and influence
Musically, the band was able to improve compared to the debut release. According to Mark Anderson and Mark Jenkins in their book Punk, DC, "they even came close to the performance of their idols Bad Brains ." Out of Step is certainly the most influential song on the record. Together with Straight Edge, it forms the blueprint for the subsequent Straight Edge movement .
The title Guilty of Being White , which dealt with reverse discrimination , was controversial . He was later Slayer on their cover album Undisputed Attitude gecovert . Slayer added "guilty of being right" as the last line, which made the sense of the text interpretable into the opposite.
My Eyes later gave its name to the band of the same name .
Steppin 'Stone is a cover version of Boyce and Hart . Minor Threat, however, was clearly based on the cover version of the Sex Pistols from 1979 ( The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle ).
