In the hot seat -

In the Hot Seat is the ninth and final studio album by British progressive rock band Emerson, Lake and Palmer . The album, recorded at Goodnight LA Studios in Los Angeles , was produced by Keith Olsen and was released on September 27, 1994 by Victory. Despite the efforts of the renowned producer, the album became a commercial flop. It received very little radio coverage and was the only Emerson, Lake and Palmers studio album that did not score on the Billboard 200 charts.

Emergence

The production of the album was overshadowed by health problems from Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer . Keyboardist Emerson suffered from focal dystonia , a disease of the ulnar nerve that limited control of his right hand. Since the prognoses for a successful recovery after a surgical intervention were not promising, he had to play the parts played on the right with his left hand. Drummer Palmer suffered from carpal tunnel syndrome , which resulted in numbness in the fingers but which could be cured by surgery.

The title Daddy was written by Lake in memory of 12 year old girl Sara Anne Wood, missing since 1993, to raise awareness of missing and abducted children. The royalties of $ 5,000 earned from the song went to the Sara Anne Wood Rescue Center, a charitable foundation founded by Wood's father.
