Incognito is a British band that is considered an important member of the acid jazz movement. In 1981 her debut album Jazz Funk was released . From 1991 to 2001 Incognito was considered the flagship of the English music label Talkin 'Loud. Since then, the group has been under contract with London-based soap label Dome.

Emergence

Maunick founded the band in 1979 together with bassist Paul "Tubbs" Wiliams , saxophonist George Lee from Ghana and drummer Jeff Dunn. Keyboardist Peter Hinds and percussionist Gee Bello joined them later. The Northern Irish singer Van Morrison also joined the band a little later. Her first work was the instrumental Parisienne Girl , which was used on a radio station as a gap filler before the news. For their record label Ensign at the time, an album was recorded in a few days, the debut Jazz Funk .

occupation

The actual line-up of the band is difficult to determine due to frequent changes of members. Neither the band's website nor the MySpace page has any cast details. What is certain, however, is that the band has been led through its entire history by composer, producer, guitarist and singer Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick. According to an announcement by the band leader, over 1000 musicians have played with Incognito over the years. So there are few constant band members. The heart of the band is Bluey, musically the keyboardist Mat Cooper is to be mentioned, the singers are currently changing and Bluey is proud when they have reached maturity, e.g. B. Solo like Maysa Leak or Imaani.
