Jean-Paul Maunick
Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick (born February 19, 1957 in Mauritius ) is a British guitarist , band leader , composer and producer .
Life
Bluey is the son of the Mauritian poet Édouard Maunick and Armande Mallet. He was born in Mauritius and moved to the United Kingdom in 1969 at the age of ten . He experienced his formative musical influences in the mid-1970s through the music of formations such as Earth, Wind & Fire , Weather Report and Kool & The Gang , bands that combine funk, soul and jazz elements in their music. His encounters with musicians and bands from the British jazz-funk scene emerging at the end of the 1970s (e.g. Gonzalez , Hi-Tension and Average White Band ) were equally stylistic for Maunick's musical work .
