history
As part of the DVB-T pilot project “Everywhere TV | local ”, funded by the Saxon State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media (SLM), the program started its distribution on March 17, 2008. The distribution of the program ended on July 1, 2016 and is now continued as Leipzig TV .
In contrast to the usual practice in radio broadcasting , a high antenna location was not installed. Instead, the shared use of existing buildings resulted in a small-cell DVB-T network with several transmission locations, which was put into regular operation on May 10, 2010. The shorter range of the transmitters allowed the exact delimitation of the coverage area and better reception in rows of houses. Thanks to the use of rotating field transmitting antennas for the first time in Germany, the transmitter could not only be received anywhere in Leipzig, but also mobile in the car or tram.
The distribution of info TV Leipzig ended on July 1st, 2016. The reason for this was the merger with Leipzig TV, which belongs to Sachsen TV . The merger was intended to increase the reach, and the future broadcast of the program in HD quality was also planned.
