Ingeborg Sjöqvist

Ingeborg Maria Sjöqvist (married Sjöqvist-Ingers , nickname Kickan ; born April 19, 1912 in Kalmar ; † November 22, 2015 ) was a Swedish diver . She is the sister of Lala Sjöqvist , who was also a successful water diver.

Life

Sjöqvist belonged to the Kalmar SS swimming club. At the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , she finished fourth in the high diving competition behind the three medalists from the USA. She was the only woman on the Swedish Olympic team. Four years later, she came ninth in the same discipline at the Games in Berlin . She celebrated her greatest successes at the European Swimming Championships : in both 1931 and 1934 she won the silver medal from the 10-meter tower.

She later worked as a primary school teacher and club secretary. Since 1939 she was married to Lennart Ingers, with whom she had three children. The couple lived in Rydebäck in Helsingborg Municipality . After Guo Jie's death on November 15, 2015, she was the oldest surviving Olympian for a week.
