Ingo Fessmann

Ingo Karl Fessmann (born October 12, 1941 in Bamberg ) is a German lawyer . He is a member and chairman of supervisory bodies of various cultural foundations and institutions.

life and work

Ingo Fessmann initially spent her childhood in Bamberg and later in Zell im Wiesental . His studies took him to Freiburg , Münster and Munich . Fessmann passed his state exams in Munich in 1968 and 1972. He received his doctorate in 1972. iur. with the topic of broadcasting and broadcasting law in the Weimar Republic (Münster 1972). In 1973, his path initially led him to the legal offices of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation and West German Broadcasting Corporation . He then worked in Cologne as the syndic of the German Stage Association (Federal Association of Theaters). In 1984 he moved to Berlin , where he worked as a department head in the Berlin Senate Cultural Administration until 1996. Since then Fessmann has been practicing as a lawyer specializing in inheritance and foundation law in Berlin.

In addition to his professional activity, Ingo Fessmann was active from 2008 to 2016 as chairman of the university council of the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . From 2011 to 2015 he chaired the board of trustees of the Haus Europa cultural foundation .

He has been a member of the board of the Friends and Patrons of the German Theater Association since 1993 , Deputy Chairman of the Foundation Board of the Student Exchange with Israel Foundation since 2000 , Chairman of the Berlin Literary Colloquium since 1999 , Member of the Administrative Advisory Board of the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein since 2004, Member of the Board of Trustees since 2006 of the Bürgerstiftung Berlin , since 2009 member of the supervisory board and foundation board of the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin and since 2015 chairman of the Ursula Lachnit-Fixson Foundation .

Fessmann was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon) in 2015 . Since 2005, the association Schutzgemeinschaft Alt-Bamberg has sponsored the Dr. Ingo Fessmann Prize awarded for extraordinary achievements in monument protection.

Ingo Fessmann lives in Berlin with his wife Angelika. They have a son and a daughter and three granddaughters.
