Ingvar Gärd

Ingvar Gärd (born October 6, 1921 in Malmö , † August 31, 2006 ) was a Swedish national football player and coach.

career

Gärd began his career at Malmö FF . In 1950, the midfielder, like many of his compatriots, moved to Italy in the late 1940s and early 1950s and signed with Sampdoria Genoa .

Gärd was also a Swedish international . At the 1950 World Cup , he played five internationals, but remained without a goal. After moving to Italy, he was no longer considered because the association did not use professional players.

After the end of his active career, Gärd moved to the coaching bench. From 1956 he worked for IFK Malmö , which he led to Allsvenskan . In 1960 he was runner-up behind IFK Norrköping with the club , but still played in the European Cup in 1960/61 . Only in the quarter-finals did the team fail at Rapid Vienna with two 0-2 defeats. 1962 succeeded only the penultimate place, Gärd had to relegate his club to Division II . In 1965 he went to Trelleborgs FF , but missed promotion with the club twice and left the club in 1966. He then looked after Gunnarstorps IF until 1969 .
