Peter Krusche
Peter Krusche (born July 9, 1924 in Tuczyn , Wolhynia Voivodeship , Poland ; † August 23, 2000 in Fürstenfeldbruck ) was a Lutheran theologian and long-time bishop of Hamburg in the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church (NEK).
Live and act
Peter Krusche was a son of Pastor Ernst Waldemar Krusche (1897–1941). The theologian Günter Krusche was a second cousin. After graduating from the German high school in Pabianice near Lodz in 1942, Krusche did military service until 1945 and was also a prisoner of war. From 1945 to 1948 he studied in Erlangen , then he did pastoral service in Bavaria until 1950, initially as city vicar in Kitzingen , where he was ordained in 1949. 1950–1952 he worked as a religion teacher in Hof. In 1952 Krusche became a school and youth pastor at the state youth pastor's office in Nuremberg before he got a teaching position at the University of Erlangen in 1954 . 1956–1962 he worked as a state youth pastor in Nuremberg and at the same time as the study representative of the Protestant youth in the Federal Republic of Germany and representative for youth work in the VELKD . From 1958 to 1967, together with Gertrud Friedrich, he was editor of the evangelical magazine for young people horizont, published by Burckhardthaus Verlag Gelnhausen and Berlin-Dahlem .
In 1962 Krusche became dean in Coburg . In Neuendettelsau he was 1967-1968 director of the pastoral college of the Bavarian regional church . In 1968 he became full professor for practical theology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . On March 1, 1983, Krusche was appointed bishop for the Hamburg district of the North Elbe Church. The theological faculty of the University of Munich awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1983. From 1984–1988 he was chairman of the board of directors of the research facility of the Evangelical Study Community (FEST) in Heidelberg, after which he was a member of the Scientific Board of Trustees. 1986-1992 he worked as chairman of the Evangelical Missionary Work and the General Assembly of the North Elbe Mission Center. He was chairman of the church leadership of the NEK from 1988 to January 1990, member of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) in 1988.
He retired on August 1, 1992 . The Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany was awarded to Krusche on September 20, 1993. He died on August 23, 2000 in Fürstenfeldbruck.
Other functions
Peter Krusche was a radio preacher at Bavarian Radio until 1983 . For many years he was also the chairman of the board of the Evangelical Study Community of the EKD and chairman of the Evangelical Mission in Hamburg.
