Insanitarium is a 2008 American horror film.
action
After her mother's suicide , Lily also tries to kill herself. Her attempt fails and she is sent to a mental hospital. Her brother Jack is not allowed to visit or contact her. So he devises the plan to have himself locked up in the same institution by pretending to have lost his mind. The project succeeds, and he is taken to Dr. Gianetti instructed. At the beginning of his stay, he meets Dave, who is supposed to help him get in touch with his sister. Jack also learns from him that Dr. Gianetti is supposed to carry out experiments with the inmates of the institution. This knowledge is another reason for him to get his sister out of the institution. In fact, he manages to get in touch with Lily, but she blocks any attempt to talk.
Meanwhile, Dr. Gianetti busy with one of the inmates, Loomis. He injects him with an experimental drug that reveals a contagious cannibalism in him . In the end, it is Loomis who transmits the infection to other inmates in the institution. When Jack and Dave more about the experiments of Dr. Want to find out about Gianetti, they are attacked by already infected inmates, but are able to flee. Jack sets off in search of Lily, who has since been taken over by Dr. Gianetti was locked in a solitary cell. Meanwhile, the infection spreads throughout the institution. After Jack frees his sister, both Dave and Nancy try to find a way out of the asylum. However, the path leads directly through Dr. Gianetti's laboratory. On the way there, Nancy is killed by the infected. Arriving at the laboratory, Dr. Gianetti Dave and lobotom him. While trying to kill Jack, he is attacked by Loomis and also infected.
Meanwhile, Jack and Lily manage to escape. As they walk down a street, they are picked up by a police patrol. Both believe they are safe now, but the police bring them back to the institution. Once there, the police open one of the doors and a large number of cannibals storm out of the building and head straight for the city.

The lexicon of international films described Insanitarium as a "questionable horror film that, increasingly drastic, crosses the motif of the 'Mad Scientist' with cannibalism."
