The Heyrothsberge Institute for Fire and Disaster Protection, or IBK Heyrothsberge for short, is the state fire brigade school of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, located in Heyrothsberge near Magdeburg. It is one of the largest fire service training centers in Germany. The institute has a practice area, which is used jointly with the IdF Saxony-Anhalt , and facilities for theoretical teaching. Technical school of the Heyrothsberge fire brigade

From 1967 to 1991 3,155 fire protection engineers and 170 foreign fire brigade members were trained in a total of 29 engineering courses. On October 16, 1991, the name was changed to "Heyrothsberge Fire Protection and Disaster Protection School".

Fire protection and disaster control school Heyrothsberge (BKS)

The BKS Heyrothsberge had developed into one of the most modern training and further education facilities for fire protection and hazard prevention in the GDR , which from 1991 to 1997 also became a training facility in extended disaster control for Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia.

On December 15, 1998, the training center of the youth fire brigade Saxony-Anhalt was inaugurated on the premises of the BKS.

In 2011 the BKS Heyrothsberge was converted into the Institute for Fire and Disaster Protection Heyrothsberge (IBK). Course and advanced training offer

Courses are offered from the third training level, i.e. from the group leader upwards. A distinction is mainly made between professional fire brigade and voluntary fire brigade. In addition to these primarily multi-day courses, there is a wide range of different seminars to convey specific current topics or innovations. In particular, special events that include legal, organizational and similar management tasks are held for managers.
The plans for the courses are created on the basis of a needs analysis . In the second quarter of a year, the professional fire brigades and the plant fire brigades report their needs to the IBK, the needs of the volunteer fire brigades are determined via the municipalities and the official channels of the state. The seats are then allocated according to the same scheme. The works and professional fire brigades receive the course places via direct allocation and then report the relevant participants. With the volunteer fire brigades, the places are allocated via the districts.

In addition to the training of fire brigades, there is also a cooperation with the safety and security program . These include a. Lecturing activities of the teaching staff in the academic institutions or directly at the IBK, for example in the area of ​​staff work.

Recreational facilities

There are various leisure facilities at the IBK, which enable employment before and after the course times. This includes a sports hall with a fitness area, a barbecue area and the canteen. In the living area of ​​the IBK there are common rooms with TV systems and tea kitchens as well as other leisure and sports rooms with table football, billiards, fitness equipment and a table tennis table.
