The Baden-Württemberg State Fire Brigade School in Bruchsal is an institution of the State of Baden-Württemberg on the basis of the Baden-Württemberg Fire Brigade Act for the training and further education of members of the fire brigades from Baden-Württemberg.

Location

The state fire brigade school had two locations in Bruchsal until 2017. One was largely used for theoretical teaching, administration and accommodation for course participants and was surmounted by a 35 m high hose tower. About 5 km away (in the “Im Wendelrot” industrial park in Bruchsal) is the training facility with a training hall as well as the fire brigade training facility and the hazardous substances training facility. At this location "Im Wendelrot 10", the new buildings for workshops and accommodation, classrooms and offices as well as the canteen and casino were put into operation in 2017 after a three-year construction period.

history

The establishment of the state of Baden-Württemberg also had consequences for the fire brigade schools that existed at the time: the Baden fire brigade school (in Schwetzingen ), which was relocated to Bruchsal as early as 1947, was to take on all the tasks of fire brigade training in the future. That is why the fire brigade schools in South Württemberg-Hohenzollern ( Tübingen ) and South Baden ( Freiburg ) were incorporated into it. The school was given the new status of "Baden-Württemberg State Fire Brigade School" as early as 1952. It was relocated to its current location on July 7, 1961 when the new building went into operation. At about the same time on April 1, 1961, the state fire brigade school in Freiburg was abolished; Their tasks were transferred to the newly established Baden-Württemberg State Fire Brigade School in Bruchsal.

Courses

The school organizes around 70 courses, mostly lasting several days, in which more than 6,500 fire brigade or disaster control members take part every year . The school has 96 employees, including 41 instructors. The school capacity is designed for 210 course participants. There are 21 classrooms with 24 to 169 seats.

The courses include:

  • Education and training of managers and trainers
  • Implementation of technical special training for the staff of the volunteer fire brigades as well as the professional and plant fire brigades
  • Education and training of control center operators for fire and rescue services
  • Education and training of leadership groups and staff
  • Training of supervisors for the youth fire brigade
  • Mediation of specialist knowledge in preventive fire protection and in fire protection education and awareness

Investments

The fire brigade training house is a facility in the training facility that enables practical "training on fire". The gas-powered technology and smoke from non-toxic, harmless special fluids create realistic scenarios for fire fighting in the variously equipped rooms of the fire house . The computer-controlled and monitor-monitored exercise facility allows dynamic changes in the exercise situation. A fryer fire can turn into a kitchen fire. A flue gas ignition can also be shown.

Exercises for technical assistance in traffic accidents are also carried out. An area is available for this, which is equipped as a two-lane street with tram rails and stops as well as overhead lines . Supporting and securing in building construction accidents can be practiced on a further exercise area. Overall, the area is designed as a typical construction site . Further exercise options are a hazardous substance training facility, a training pond for diving training, a replica of a storage building and a silo facility .
