The InterCity (short form: IC) in Finland is an internationally used type of train .

Finnish Railways VR operates intercity trains on the lines from Helsinki and Turku to Vaasa , Rovaniemi , Kajaani and Joensuu . From Helsinki to Turku, Tampere and Imatra , trains consisting of single-class double-decker cars ( InterCity 2 ) are used; in the other connections, the double-decker cars run together with single-deck IC cars.

The vehicles are generally air-conditioned, and the double-deck cars are also pressure-tight. The fare includes an optional seat reservation, but there is no requirement for a seat ticket. Since the beginning of the intercity operation, the trains can be recognized by their special paintwork in white with red, and since the 150th anniversary of the railway in Finland with green contrasting stripes.

In addition to the Intercity trains, Pendolino trains operate on the routes from Helsinki to Turku, Oulu , Kajaani and Joensuu at a higher fare and with shorter journey times.
