Interest group Mittelrheinischer Karneval

The Mittelrheinischer Karneval (IGMK) interest group is a regional association of the Bundes Deutscher Karneval e. V. (BDK) based in Mainz. The association was founded on February 5, 1946 in Alzey . With almost 500 member associations, the IGMK is the regional association with the largest number of members in the BDK. The political-literary form of carnival developed in Mainz from 1837 to 1848 also became the guideline for most of the carnival societies that had been established over the course of 150 years.

The community of interests includes Hesse and large parts of Rhineland-Palatinate . It is divided into eight district associations:
