International Alliance of Women

The International Alliance of Women (IAW) and Alliance Internationale des Femmes (AIF) is an international feminist organization that on 3 June 1904 a of Anna Edinger -led international women's congress in Berlin under the name of International Woman Suffrage Alliance (IWSA) formally Founded. In 1926 the name was changed to International Alliance of Women . In contemporary German-language literature, the name was translated as the World Federation for Women's Suffrage. Co-founders were u. a. Marie Stritt , Anita Augspurg , Carrie Chapman Catt and Käthe Schirmacher . The International Alliance of Women today represents over 50 organizations worldwide as well as individual members. The IAW has advisory status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and participatory status with the Council of Europe and has permanent representatives in New York City , Vienna , Geneva , Paris , Rome , Nairobi and Strasbourg . The International Alliance of Women is an international non-governmental organization ; its president has been the Greek diplomat Joanna Manganara since 2013 .
