International Field Archery Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Field Archery Association ( short: IFAA) is an international archery association based in Lugano ( Switzerland ). The association, founded in 1970, feels above all committed to amateur sports. Participation in the World and Continental Championships of the IFAA does not require any athletic qualification, only membership in one of the incorporated national archery associations. In 2010, according to the IFAA, around 50,000 athletes from 37 member states belonged to the world, whose national associations are members of the IFAA. The IFAA supports most bow classes ( bare bow , long bow , recurve bow , compound bow ) in different bow styles ( sighting device , without sight, classic types). The shooting distances do not differ between the individual classes and styles. Shorter distances are only offered for children and young people.

The association is not admitted to the Olympic Games . The much larger World Archery Federation with 149 national member associations has this privilege .

The language of the association is English, there are also German and Italian translations of the rules.
