Press review

“The International Children's and Young People's Literature section [...] proved to be a crowd puller again this year. More than 700 enthusiastic guests watched the Gruffalo Show by Axel Scheffler and Julia Donaldson alone . One of the audience favorites was Finn-Ole Heinrich with his book Frerk, du Zwerg . Bloomsbury celebrated the release of the book illustrated by Icelandic artist Rán Flygering as part of the festival with a party in the author's tent. Authors such as François Place, Jenny Valentine , Morris Gleitzman , Kitty Crowther , Frida Nilsson and Robert Williams also ensured a full house. One of the many highlights of this section was the presentation of the graphic novel Zarah's Paradise by Amir and Khalil from Knesebeck Verlag . The German-Iranian artist Hamed Eshrat presented the book about the Green Revolution in Iran and a mother's search for her son in conversation with the moderator Shelly Kupferberg. Amir and Khalil, who now live in California and write under a pseudonym, could not travel to Berlin themselves because they have to remain anonymous for political reasons. A moving moment was the live connection to Amir and Khalil, who sat in front of the PC at three o'clock in the morning to answer the questions of the German students. An experience for everyone involved. "
