International Association of Catholic Men
The International Association of Catholic Men ( en . : International Council of Catholic Men - Unum Omnes , abbreviation: ICCM; fr . : Fédération Internationale des Hommes Catholiques , common abbreviation: FIHC-Unum Omnes ), also known as "Unum Omnes", is one Association of believers in the Roman Catholic Church based in Vatican City and recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity as an international Catholic association under papal law.
history
In 1948 the constituent meeting took place in Lourdes , attended by 20 delegates from Europe , North and South America . Initially, the association emerged as the "International Federation of Men's Union of Catholic Action in Italy". Under the auspices of Pope Pius XII. (1939–1958) opened the federation to Catholic men's associations that were outside of Catholic Action . After all, it was the Pope's wish that at the General Assembly that took place in 1950 the name “International Union of Catholic Men - Unum Omnes” was adopted. The designation "Unum Omnes" means "all people are one in God". This addition is derived from the Latin motto " Ut omnes unum sint " (compare the Gospel of John 17:21 EU ), which stands for "That all are one".
Self-image
Catholic men should realize their abilities as Catholics, they should be encouraged to assume their role in the Church and in society . The Catholic men's associations want to promote the family and recognize their essential area of responsibility. To this end, the association wants to promote further expansion and set up new associations, it supports international cooperation and develops programs and promotional events for this purpose. For the International Association of Catholic Men this means that it is the mouthpiece , that it issues opinions and represents public opinion.
