International Alliance of Catholic Knights
The International Alliance of Catholic Knights (IACK) (International Alliance of Catholic Knights ) is an international knight association in the Roman Catholic Church . It is recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity as an association of the faithful .
history
On October 12, 1979, the International Alliance of Catholic Knights was founded in Glasgow ( Scotland ). On this day, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Knights of Saint Columba , the presidents of five Catholic orders of knights met and discussed an international alliance . The founding assembly decided that the knightly brotherhoods should join together to form an international association. The present leaders of the orders of knights were elected to the executive board. The founding members were the Catholic orders of knights:
- Columbus Knight
- Knights of Saint Columbanus
- Knights of the Southern Cross - Australia
- Knights of the Southern Cross - New Zealand and
- Knights of Saint Columba.
The board of directors meets annually for the annual general meeting and advises on the affairs and business processes of Allianz. On April 14, 1992, the Knight Alliance was recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity as an association of believers and included in the register .
Patron saint
The Alliance of Catholic Knights chose Rev. Michael Joseph McGivney (1852–1890) as their patron and spiritual father. McGivney was the founder of the Knights of Columbus and was founded in 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. (2005–2013) raised to “ Venerable Servant of God ”. Every year on August 14, the anniversary of McGivney's death, the Alliance commemorates the Founding Father and prays for his beatification .
Goal setting
The members strive to achieve a responsible and apostolic life. Its goals are to spread the gospel and to gain loyalty to church leaders and especially to the Holy Father . To achieve these goals, the association wants to exert its influence and therefore works with other associations of believers.

Michael Bell Memorial Award
The "Michael Bell Memorial Award" was founded in 1992 and is given to members who have made outstanding contributions to the right to life . Michael Bell was a lawyer , a member of a Franciscan secular order, and a Knight of Saint Columba. He stood up for the protection of unborn life and with actions and prayer drew attention to the right to life. The award is given to international members in the brotherhoods and to non-members. It is divided into two categories, the first category are individuals, the second category are organizations.
