Confraternity of the Knights of St. Peter & St. Paul (short form Knights of St. Peter and St. Paul , German: Brotherhood of the Knights of St. Peter & St. Paul) is a Roman Catholic association of believers . The brotherhood is registered as a civil association (Inc.) and is headquartered in Melbourne Australia .

History and goals

In November 1996 Peter Paul Portelli OSJ founded the first community in Melbourne with the name "Order of St. Peter & St. Paul". His concern was to honor deserving Catholic Christians for their work . The first solemn investiture took place on July 6, 1997 during a high mass to celebrate the apostles Peter and Paul . In 1998 the founder was made a knight and grand prior of the brotherhood. The first general chapter took place in 1999 , Peter Paul Portelli was elected as the first president, Bruno Rabensteiner became his deputy, David Connolly was elected as general secretary and Dame Lillian Calleja and knight Eddy Abraham were elected as assessors . Between the years 2005 and 2006 there was a small resignation and in 2007 some members separated. The order regenerated in 2007 and was registered in the state of Victoria under the name "The Order of St. Peter & St. Paul, Inc." At the suggestion of the Archbishop of Melbourne Denis James Hart , the current name was decided at the General Chapter in 2010. So that the Brotherhood could receive the approbation from the Pontifical Council for the Laity as an "Association of Believers", it now called itself "Confraternity of St. Peter and St. Paul", Grand Prior remained the previously elected Knight Peter Paul Portelli. On May 26, 2010, the Brotherhood in Canberra received its papal recognition from the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto . In 2012 the name was changed to the Confraternity of St. Peter and St. Paul Inc. as a registered association, as of 2012 the fraternity has 104 female and male members. The main goal of the Brotherhood is to provide humanitarian aid. Her motto is: In hoc signo vinces (German: In this sign you will win).
