Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival
The Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival (NIHRFF) ( English for "International Nuremberg Film Festival of Human Rights") is an international film festival that has taken place every two years since 1999 . The festival will take place following the presentation of the Nuremberg International Human Rights Prize in October.
Germany's oldest and largest festival of its kind offers a forum for committed fiction , documentary and animated films from all over the world that deal with human rights issues . A selection of the films takes part in the competition for the “Nuremberg Film Prize for Human Rights”. The members of the Board of Trustees include Doris Dörrie and Volker Schlöndorff . Michael Ballhaus , Ken Loach , Michael Verhoeven and Katja Riemann have been the patrons to date .
The main prizes are awarded in three categories; the Human Rights Film Prize , which is endowed with € 2500, the Audience Prize and the Prize of the Open Eyes Youth Jury , each endowed with € 1000.
