Jesús Olalla Iraeta (born July 15, 1971 in Irun ) is a former Spanish handball player who was mostly used on the back center .

Athletic career

The 1.96 m tall and 95 kg heavy right-handed player began playing handball in his hometown at Bidasoa Irún , with whom he also made his debut in 1990 in the Spanish ASOBAL league. In the 1990/91 European Cup Winners' Cup he was defeated by TSV Milbertshofen in the final . In the same year he won the Copa del Rey de Balonmano . In 1993 the triumph in the Copa ASOBAL followed . He then moved to FC Barcelona , with whom he won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1994 and 1995 and the Spanish championship and the EHF Champions League in 1996. Thereupon he returned to Irun. In 1997 he won the European Cup for the third time. In 1998, Portland San Antonio signed the playmaker. There he won the cup winners' competition again in 2000, the King's Cup in 2001 and, to top it off, the Champions League in 2001. With this title he said goodbye to Spain and joined the German Bundesliga club SG Wallau / Massenheim . After an unsuccessful season in Germany, he played for BM Alcobendas . In his final year as a professional, he played for CB Cantabria Santander .

"Iosu" Olalla made his debut in the Spanish national team in 1991 and was a regular in the team that won the first medals for the Selección . In 1996 he won silver at the European Championships and bronze at the Olympic Games in Atlanta. He won bronze at the European Championships in 1998 and 2000 . He was also third at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. After 176 international matches and 235 goals, Olalla ended his national team career on June 15, 2003.
