Irina Felicia Björklund (born February 7, 1973 in Danderyd , Sweden ) is a Finnish actress and singer .
Life
Irina Björklund is the granddaughter of actress Tuire Orri . She was born in Danderyd, north of the Swedish capital Stockholm. As a child, the family moved to Finland, where they attended a French school. Due to her father's professional situation, Björklund also spent some time in France. She attended a ballet school and originally wanted to be a dancer before she began studying acting at the Helsinki Theater Academy in 1993 , which she broke off in 1996 in favor of a theater engagement at the Swedish Theater in Helsinki .
Björklund made her film debut in a supporting role at the side of her future husband Peter Franzén in the literary film adaptation Tie naisen sydämeen , directed by Pekka Parikka and based on a novel by Ilkka Kylävaara . She had her first leading role three years later, also at her husband's side, when she embodied the character in the award-winning war drama Ambush 1941 - Scouting Troop into Hell . For her performance, she received her first nomination for Best Actress for the national film award Jussi . With her second nomination for the portrayal of Milla in the love story Minä ja Morrison two years later she was awarded for the first time.
After she had already recorded several duets with Samuli Edelmann , including Verenpisara and Niin kaunis on maa , Björklund released her first music album in 2011 with the French-language album Chanson d'automne . Since then, two more albums have followed with La vie est une fete and Ce soir tout peut arriver . She celebrated her greatest success with her second album, which took her to number 2 on the Finnish album charts.
Björklund has been married to the Finnish actor Peter Franzén since 1996 . The couple lived in Los Angeles from 1999 to 2013 and have a son. She is fluent in Swedish, Finnish, French and English.
