The Third Wave - The Conspiracy (Original title: Den tredje vågen ) is a film by the Swedish director Anders Nilsson from 2003 and the last part of a trilogy with Zero Tolerance - Witnesses in Fear (1999) and Executive Protection - The bomb is ticking ( 2001) was started. The subject of the films is the work of the Swedish police commissioner Johan Falk, played by Jakob Eklund .

The film ran in 2006 under the title The Third Violence on ZDF.

action

Johan Falk, the Swedish Police Commissioner, has retired from active duty. He spends his vacation by the sea in Dunkirk with his wife and daughter .

Meanwhile, a new Europol President will be presented in The Hague . The Swede Ola Sellberg, former supervisor of Commissioner Falk, reveals his findings to the press about organized crime, which, in a “third wave” of his criminal activities, is trying to dominate European banks and large corporations, and has already penetrated far.

In a third storyline, the film follows the action at the head of a London investment fund involved in illegal financial transfers. Rebecca, wife of the Phoenix Kane executive board, discovers that money is being laundered on a large scale. This marks the beginning of an escape through half of Europe for Rebecca.

The three people with whom the story of The Third Wave began meet in a restaurant in The Hague. Sellberg pays his brave rush against organized crime with his life, even though Rebecca was actually the target of the attack. She narrowly escapes, henceforth protected by Falk, who, however, puts his family in extreme danger. Only in Munich does the persecution come to a surprising end in the confusion of a demonstration by opponents of globalization. Phoenix Kane, who knew nothing about the planned killing of his wife, and would have certainly not consented to it, saves her from the killers at the risk of his life.

Johan Falk later learns that for his sake Ola Sellberg rushed so openly against organized crime at the press conference. The film ends with Johan's re-entry into the police.

background

Director Anders Nilsson is considered to be one of the founders of the so-called Euro-Thriller , European productions that are supposed to differ from American films primarily through their closeness to reality and credibility. With The Third Wave - The Conspiracy , Nilsson was able to realize his most extensive project to date. The film was shot with a budget of 37 million Swedish kronor (4 million euros) and a huge staff. The casting in England, France, Germany and the Netherlands alone took a year. The film was shot in no less than eight European countries. The German actor and Grimme Prize winner Sylvester Groth plays one of the villains. In Germany, The Third Wave was released on DVD and ran on ZDF under the title The Third Violence .
