Priest of Evil is a Finnish thriller from 2010. The fictional film is based on the novel Harjunpää ja pahan pappi by Finnish writer Matti Yrjänä Joensuu .
action
Police officer Timo Harjunpää loses his daughter Emmi because he is on a mission and cannot pick her up in time after a concert. Emmi is brutally raped and murdered. Two years later, Timo is still suffering from the loss. He tries to take better care of his other daughter Paulina, but his relationship with his wife Elisa is so strained that he finally moves out.
While Timo is struggling with his private fate, an unknown perpetrator murders two people at a subway station by pushing them in front of the incoming trains. He follows the trail of a suspect in the hooded sweater. However, he cannot concentrate on this case alone because his daughter's killer is released from prison. During the investigation, it turns out that the underground killer is acting for religious reasons and sees himself as a savior who punishes violent people.
Finally, after a Bible study , he kidnaps Timo's wife. In his house he shows Elisa photos of his brutal father and the Harjunpää family. He tells her that he once fled from his father and was almost run over by a train. In the basement he raped Elisa. He then shoots a policeman and threatens to burn Elisa. Timo and his colleague arrive just in time to stop the murderer.
