Iris anguifuga is a plant from the genus of the iris ( Iris ).

features

The rhizomes are thick and swollen at the top. The leaves are linear, 20 to 30 centimeters × 5 to 7 millimeters in size and overwinter. They have 3 to 6 parallel leaf veins and the leaf base is surrounded by a sheath and fibers. The stems are 30 to 50 centimeters long and have 3 to 5 narrowly lanceolate, 8 to 12 centimeters × about 5 millimeters large leaves. The spathe are solitary, narrowly lanceolate, 10 to 13.5 centimeters × approximately 8 millimeters in size and single-flowered. The flowers are purple and about four inches in diameter. The flower stalk is about 2.5 inches long. The perigone is about 3 centimeters. The pendulum leaves are drawn with brown lines or dots and are violin-shaped or off-lanceolate and 5 to 5.5 centimeters × approximately 8 millimeters in size. The tip of the leaf is edged, the nail narrow. The standards are drawn with bluish brown lines, obscurate and 4.5 to 5 centimeters × approximately 3 millimeters in size. The stamens are about 2.5 centimeters in size, the anthers light yellow. The style branches are 4.5 to 5 cm × about 6 millimeters in size. The capsules are spindle-shaped, 5.5 to 7 × 1.5 to 2 centimeters in size, triangular and hairy yellowish brown. The tip has a long beak. The seeds are spherical and 4 to 5 millimeters in diameter.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.

The species blooms in March and April and fruit from May to July.

Occurrence

Iris anguifuga occurs in China ( Anhui , Guangxi and Hubei ). It grows on slopes of grasslands.

Systematics

The species Iris anguifuga was first described in 1980 by Zhao Yuetang and Xue Xiangji .
