Isaac Herzberg

Isaak Herzberg (born June 18, 1857 in Aurich , Kingdom of Prussia ; died November 6, 1936 in Kassel ) was a German Jewish religious teacher and writer.

Life

Isaak Herzberg attended school in Aurich and received training from 1872 to 1875 at the Jewish teacher training center in Hanover. He worked as a teacher, prayer leader and preacher in Lingen , Meppen and Diepholz and was also an employee and then editor of the magazine Israelitischer Bote published in Bonn . In 1886 he moved to Inowrocław (Hohensalza), where he headed the local daily newspaper. In 1890 he took over the post of first religion teacher at the Jewish school in Bromberg .

Herzberg wrote fiction, youth books and educational writings. With the Koschmin Rabbi Aron Heppner (1865-1939) he collected the material for a comprehensive history of the Jews in the area of ​​the then Prussian province of Posen .

Herzberg moved to Kassel after the First World War , when Bromberg became Polish .
