The Imperator 108i from the Swabian manufacturer Isdera is a sports car built from 1984 to 2001 .

Development / production

The Imperator was presented in 1983 as the successor to the 1978 study CW 311 . In order to create more space in the interior, the car was enlarged in many ways. The design of the vehicle also received some adjustments to the 1980s. Instead of the pop-up headlights, for example, fixed ones were now installed. The first series of the Imperator was produced in 17 copies until 1991. The second series was then adapted technically and in design and manufactured until 2001. A total of 30 copies were made.

technology

Instead of the 6.9 liter V8 used in the CW 311, eight cylinders from the current Mercedes generation were used in the Imperator. The 5-liter V8 with around 173 kW (235 PS) and a little later the 5.6-liter V8 with around 221 kW (300 PS) known from the 560 SE were available. ABS and a catalytic converter were also supplied on special request . A 5-speed ZF transmission provided power transmission. From the mid-1980s, you could get your Imperator with a tuned AMG- V8 that got 268 kW (365 hp) out of the 5.6 liters.

The second series from 1992 was again equipped with Mercedes engines. A new 5.0-liter V8 from the S-Class at the time was used, which developed 240 kW (326 hp). The 6.0-liter V8 from the SL 60 AMG with an output of 301 kW (410 hp) was added later .

Performance

The top speed of the Imperator ranges from 262 km / h to 310 km / h in the AMG model. This accelerates to 100 km / h in just under 5 seconds.

useful information

The attachment on the roof is the rearview mirror for the driver. He can look up into the mirror through a viewing window in the roof and thus look at the traffic behind him. There is a similar model of a Ford GT40 .
