Isley Jasper Isley was an American soul and funk trio best known for the 1985 song Caravan of Love .
Band history
The brothers Marvin and Ernie Isley and Chris Jasper, brother-in-law of the two, played in the family band The Isley Brothers since 1973 . In 1984 they separated from the group and formed the trio Isley Jasper Isley. The formation received a contract with CBS and in late 1984 released the debut album Broadway’s Closer to Sunset Blvd. , which peaked at number 135 on the Billboard 200 and number 28 on the Billboard R&B charts. The release Look the Other Way rose to number 14 on the R&B charts, the follow-up single Kiss and Tell did not go beyond number 52, but also made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 and the dance charts.
Caravan of Love , the pre- single for the album of the same name , was Isley Jasper Isley's greatest success in 1985. The song not only made it into the UK and American singles charts, it also became a number one hit on the R&B charts. There the album rose to number 3. The second release, Insatiable Woman , became an R&B top 20 hit.
In 1987, Different Drummer, the formation's third studio album, was released. The record could not build on the success of its predecessors, but with the R&B top 20 hits 8th Wonder of the World and Givin 'You Back the Love there were two highly acclaimed songs. Chris Jasper then began a solo career and in the same year had a top 3 hit in the R&B charts with Superbad . Ernie and Marvin Isley returned to The Isley Brothers.
Marvin Isley died in 2010 after complications from diabetes .
