Isolde Ries (born June 24, 1956 in Illingen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She is Vice President of the Saarland State Parliament .

education and profession

In 1974, Ries was employed by the German Trade Union Federation in the press / organization / labor law departments. In 1979 she was able to obtain her diploma in social economy. From 1984 to 1987 she trained as a trade union secretary at the food-gourmet restaurant trade union in Darmstadt, Frankfurt a. M. and Neustadt and has been a trade unionist at NGG since 1987, where she works as a negotiator in the hotel and restaurant area, bakery and housekeeping.

Ries has been a member of the SPD since 1984 and has been chairwoman of the Gersweiler local association since 1993 . She has been a member of the Saarland state parliament since 1990 . In addition, she is spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group for family, women's and consumer policy and a member of the committee for health and social affairs and the committee for internal affairs, data protection, family, women and sport. Since 2009 she has been the 1st Vice President of the State Parliament.

As a result of the death of the previous President of the State Parliament, Hans Ley , Ries took over his official duties on July 16, 2015. On November 11, 2015, Klaus Meiser was elected as the new President of the State Parliament.
