Albrecht Herold (born August 20, 1929 in St. Ingbert ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1965 to 1994 he was a member of the Saarland State Parliament , from 1980 as its President.

education and profession

After elementary school, Herold completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator. Since 1946 he has been involved as a union official : He was the first authorized representative of IG Metall Saarbrücken and a member of the IG Metall federal executive committee.

From 1962 to 1980 he chaired the board of the Saarland AOK as well as the board of the representatives' assembly of the Saarland Chamber of Labor . From 1971 to 1980 he was also a member of the Broadcasting Council of the Saarland Broadcasting Corporation , from 1972 as deputy chairman.

politics

From 1960 to 1974, the SPD member was a parliamentary group leader in the St. Ingbert district council . After that he was a member of the district council of the Saarpfalz district until 1979 .

Herold was a member of the Saarland state parliament from the fifth to the tenth legislative period (1965–1994). From 1975 to 1980 he held the office of First Vice President there. He was then President of the State Parliament until he left.

Honors

Herold was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit on January 24, 1995 .

Albrecht Herold is married and has one son.
