It's My Life is the second studio album by the English band Talk Talk . It was released in February 1984. Musically it is characterized by synth-pop and new wave .
Emergence
The recordings for the album took place in London , Tim Friese-Greene produced the record. The bassist Mike Oldfield , Phil Spalding , is heard as a guest musician on the album. He played instead of Paul Webb on The Last Time , because he only used a fretless bass , and a fretted bass was used for this song. Spalding later said that he played the session despite a hangover - Friese-Greene and Mark Hollis had asked him to record multiple takes despite the simplicity of the bass run.
Cover
The cover of the album was designed by James Marsh . It takes elements of the painting The Boyhood of Raleigh by John Everett Millais .
