The Itek Air ( Russian Авиакомпания ИТЕК-ЭЙР ) was a Kyrgyz airline based in Bishkek . Like all airlines from Kyrgyzstan, Itek Air was on the EU's black list and was therefore not allowed to fly in the airspace of the European Union .
history
Itek Air was founded in 1999. The first flights took place with Tupolev Tu-134 and Tu-154 aircraft on the Bishkek- Moscow route . Later Kogalym , Novosibirsk , Istanbul and Urumqi were added to the flight plan. In 2000, Itek Air was recognized by the International Air Transport Association . In 2007 the airline carried 52,225 passengers on more than 530 flights. The airline's flight license was temporarily withdrawn in 2010 and finally in 2012.
Destinations
Itek-Air connected Kyrgyz destinations with the Russian capital Moscow and Novosibirsk as well as Urumqi in China .

Incidents
On August 24, 2008, a Boeing 737 crashed shortly after taking off from Manas Airport near Bishkek and burned out. 65 of the 90 people on board were killed.
