Professional activity and political commitment

After completing her studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Brno University of Technology in 1975, Stafová worked as an electrical engineer. In 1980 she emigrated to Austria , which led to her career in cycling being broken off. After the Czechoslovakian Cyclists Association lodged a protest at the World Cycling Association UCI , the Austrian Cycling Association withdrew its support for the granting of citizenship, so that Stafová was not allowed to start for Austria, not even at the Olympic Games in Moscow. She then worked as a mountaineer.

After Stafová got her grandfather's house back in restitution, she moved from Vienna to Ždánice in 1995 to repair it. Since then, Iva Stafová has lived in Ždánice and soon became involved in local politics. Between 2006 and 2010 she was a council member, from 2010 to 2014 she was mayor of Ždánice ( Okres Hodonín ), and since then she has been working there again in the municipal council.
