Iván Knez (born July 21, 1974 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is a former Argentine- Swiss football player .

Personal

The son of an Argentine mother and a Croatian father, Ivan and his family came to Emmen, Switzerland, when he was seven . Ivan Knez lives in Emmen again today with his partner Mirjam and his son Noah Elia. He is a commercial clerk by profession.

Club career

When SC Emmen began his career and he went through the junior teams. In 1994 he moved to FC Luzern , but towards the end of his time in Lucerne the wages were not paid and in a lightning-fast action he moved to Basel in 1999 after five years in Lucerne. His move to FC Basel should be worthwhile, because under coach Christian Gross , FCB set out for new horizons. Knez played in central defense alongside Oliver Kreuzer . In the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup , the team reached the final, but lost to Aston Villa . In the 2001/02 season, Knez won the Swiss double with FCB .

In February 2002 he signed for the Austrian club SK Rapid Wien and made his debut on February 24th in a 1-0 home win over SV Austria Salzburg . But only a year later he moved back to Switzerland to BSC Young Boys and played in Bern for two years. At the end of his football career, he played at FC Augsburg in the 2nd Bundesliga .
