Iwan Iwanowitsch Sajenko [ ɪˈvan ɪˈvanəvʲɪtʲɕ sʌˈjɛnkə ] ( Russian Иван Иванович Саенко , scientific transliteration Ivan Ivanovič Saenko , English transcription Ivan Saenko ; born October 17, 1983 in Maslowka , Voronezh Oblast ) a former Russian football player , USSR .

Career

Ivan Sajenko comes from a soccer family; his father is the coach of the Russian women's soccer champions FC Energie Voronezh .

society

Sajenko played in Russia for FK Fakel Voronezh before he was signed by Karlsruher SC in 2001 . After two substitutions in 2001, in the first half of 2002 he again gained match practice with Fakel Voronezh in the second highest Russian league. From the second division season 2002/03 he played firmly in the Karlsruhe team. In 2003 Sajenko signed a preliminary contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 , which later refrained from signing the striker.

Sajenko moved from KSC in 2005 to the first division club 1. FC Nürnberg . There, the term of his three-year contract was extended to 2010. In the 2006/07 season he was Nuremberg's top scorer with nine goals and won the DFB Cup with the club . In the following season he had to struggle with injuries and his form again and again. A single goal was recorded in 26 appearances. He scored two goals in the UEFA Cup and made two assists in seven FCN games. With 1. FC Nürnberg he was relegated to the 2. Bundesliga at the end of the 2007/08 season.

In August 2008, Sajenko moved to Spartak Moscow . There he had his first appearance on August 23, 2008, when he came on in the 82nd minute for Vladimir Bystrow . In his first six months he was only used irregularly. With the start of the new season in March 2009, he was part of the team and played in the first 13 games. Then he suffered a meniscus damage that would not allow him to be used until the next season. On the sixth match day in April 2010 he returned to the team and played his way back into the regular formation. After a few months the meniscus injury broke open again and again brought the season to an early end. After that, his return to professional football failed and Sajenko ended his career at the age of 27.

National team

Sajenko was team captain of the Russian U-21 national team and was in the squad of the Russian senior team from 2006 . On October 11, 2006, he completed his first international match there. In February 2007 he was used in a friendly game over the entire 90 minutes of play. He was in the Russian squad for the 2008 European Championship . There he was the only player who did not come from the Russian league. He came on as a substitute in the second group game against Greece (with his club colleague Angelos Charisteas ) and in the third group game against Sweden. In the quarter-finals against the Netherlands and in the semi-finals against Spain - the Russians' last game - he played in the starting line-up, but was replaced.
