Iveta Putalová (born March 24, 1988 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Between 2009 and 2014 Iveta Putalová represented her country almost every year at the European team championships and won the bronze medal in the Slovak 4 x 400 meter relay in 2010 and the silver medal in the individual competition in 2014. In 2014 she also qualified for the European Championships in Zurich , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round both in her specialty and with the relay. In 2015 she had her international breakthrough when she was able to improve the national record three times at the European Indoor Championships in Prague and finished fourth in the final. She also took part in the Universiade in Gwangju , South Korea , where she took fifth place in the individual competition and with the 4 x 100 meter relay. She was also able to qualify for the World Championships in Beijing, but failed there in the preliminary round .

At the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland , Putalová surprisingly made it to the final and finished sixth there. She also qualified for the European Championships in Amsterdam and made it to the semifinals there. With the Slovak relay, she was eliminated in the preliminary round. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round. At the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade in 2017 , Putalová was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 400 meter competition.
