Ivo Striedinger

Ivo Striedinger (born July 22, 1868 in Bayreuth ; † June 3, 1943 in Altötting ) was Professor of Archival Studies at the University of Munich and Director of the Bavarian State Archives .

Life

The doctor of history worked as an archivist at the Royal Bavarian General Reich Archives , since 1921 the Bavarian Main State Archives . He was also editor of the Archival Journal and later professor at the University of Munich . He was editor of the Upper Bavarian Archive from 1899 to 1903.

Striedinger was a critic of the prince theory based on the descent of Kaspar Hauser , as he explained in detail in his large literary report New Literature on Kaspar Hauser, published in 1933 . Striedinger was elected a full member of the Commission for Bavarian State History in 1939, but was not appointed by the Bavarian Ministry of Education because of his marriage to a Jew ("non-Aryan").
