Ivy Kellerman Reed
Ivy Kellerman Reed (born July 8, 1877 in Oshkosh , Wisconsin, † February 7, 1968 in La Jolla , California) was an American writer in the Esperanto language .
Career
She was a graduate of Ohio State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta . She holds a Masters degree from Cornell University and a PhD magna cum laude from the University of Chicago . She also worked as a lawyer. She worked from 1900 to 1902 as Grand Treasurer of the Delta Delta Delta. A linguist with degrees in Latin , Greek , Sanskrit, and Persian and half a dozen modern languages, Reed was a passionate Esperantist. Her Practical Grammar of the International Language , first published in 1915, has had multiple editions and is available online from Project Gutenberg .
Together with Ralph A. Lewin she was the translator of the Esperanto edition of Pooh the Pooh . They also translated Shakespeare's " As You Like It ," which in sixth in 1910 World Esperanto Congress was premiered in Washington, DC. She also worked as the editor of the American Esperantist .
