Ivan Ivanovich Swiyazew

Ivan Ivanovich Swijasew ( Russian Иван Иванович Свиязев * 1797 in the village Werchnije Mully (since 1958 part of Permian ); † October 27 . Jul / 8. November  1874 greg. In St. Petersburg ) was a Russian architect of Russian Classicism and university teachers .

Life

Swijasew came from a serf Hoffamilie Princess WA Shakhovskaia born Stroganowa . He graduated from high school in Perm and was admitted to the St. Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts (IACh) in 1815 . In the examination in 1817 he received the silver medal 2nd class. In 1818 he had to leave the IACh because he did not receive the release certificate from Princess Shachowskaya. He then carried out constructions for Princess Shachowskaya, who lived in Moscow . He also worked in Peterhof in the Imperial Paper Mill and in Peterhof Palace on the Great Cascade .

In 1820 Svyazev was ransomed by the IACh. In 1821 the IACh council appointed him artist- architect 14th grade. In March 1822 he became the architect of the Urals (Perm) mining administration . Due to insufficient salary, he gave up the position and built in 1825 in military settlements in Novgorod governorate from. Since he did not receive the promised raise, he returned to Perm in 1826.

In 1832 Svyazev went back to St. Petersburg and taught mining architecture at the Mining Institute and the Technology Institute. He became a full member of the IACh and taught architecture there. In 1833 he published his guide to architecture. In 1839 he was sent to the commission for the construction of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow as a senior architect . In addition, he was inspector of the work for the renovation of the Moscow Pashkov House for the aristocratic institute. In the same year he was elected a member of the Imperial Free Economic Society of Saint Petersburg and was then editor of that society's magazine for 7 years .

In 1846 Svyazev entered the service of the Ministry of State Property and was a compulsory member of the Commission for Construction and Technical Affairs of the Department of Agriculture in St. Petersburg. In the same year he was invited to give lectures on architecture at the Imperial Alexander Lyceum and again at the Mining Institute. He was the official architect of the Mining Institute for 25 years. In addition to the design of buildings, he dealt with questions of heating and ventilation of buildings. After fifty years of civil service, he was appointed to the Privy Council (3rd class ).

Svyazev was buried in the Smolensk cemetery .
