János Mátyus (born December 20, 1974 in Győr ) is a former Hungarian football player .

Career

Mátyus played with Honvéd Budapest and Ferencváros Budapest before leaving his Hungarian homeland. His first international position was in 2000 with FC Energie Cottbus in the German 2nd division , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in third place in the same year . In 2002 he moved to Scotland to join Hibernian Edinburgh . After one season, Mátyus moved back to German-speaking countries: to Austria for FC Admira Wacker Mödling . From 2005 he played again in Hungary for Győri ETO FC , his old club Ferencváros Budapest and FC Tatabánya .
