János Pap

János Pap (born December 23, 1925 in Kaposvár , Somogy county , † July 22, 1994 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian politician of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party MSZMP (Magyar Szocialista Munkáspárt) , who was Interior Minister from 1961 to 1963 and Vice-Minister between 1963 and 1965 -Was Prime Minister of the Hungarian People's Republic .

Life

After attending school and training, Pap began working as a technician in the Ajka power plant in 1946 and joined the party of the Hungarian working people MDP (Magyar Dolgozók Pártja) . In 1949 he began his career as a party official and was initially head of the industrial and transport department of the MDP Committee in Veszprém County between 1949 and 1956, and during this time he graduated from the MDP party school in 1954. After the popular uprisingHe became First Secretary of the MSZMP Committee in Veszprém County on November 27, 1957 and remained in this post until September 15, 1961. On November 16, 1958, he was nominated for the first time as a candidate on the joint list of the Hungarian Independent Popular Front MFN (Magyar Függetlenségi Népfront) and the Patriotic Popular Front HNF (Hazafias Népfront) elected as a member of the Hungarian Parliament (Országgyűlés) and represented Veszprém County until November 16, 1985. In addition, he was elected a member of the Central Committee on December 5, 1959 at the VII Party Congress of the MSZMP and was a member of the Central Committee until March 9, 1985.

On September 13, 1961, Pap took over the post of Interior Minister (Belügyminiszter) as successor to Béla Biszku and held this ministerial office until December 7, 1963, after which he was replaced by András Benkei . He then acted between December 7, 1963 and June 30, 1965 as Deputy Prime Minister (Miniszterelnök-helyettes) . He became first secretary of the MSZMP committee in Veszprém county on June 28, 1965 and held this position for almost 20 years until March 9, 1985.

Pap committed suicide with his wife.
