János Tamás
János Tamás [ ˈjaːnoʃ ˈtɒmaːʃ ] (born May 24, 1936 in Budapest , † November 14, 1995 in Aarau ) was a Hungarian-Swiss composer , conductor and teacher .
Tamás studied in Budapest. After the Hungarian uprising , he fled to Switzerland in 1956 and finished his studies at the conservatories in Bern and Zurich . From 1961 he worked as a solo repetitor at the Stadttheater Zürich , from 1963 as the first conductor of the Städtebundtheater Biel-Solothurn. In 1969 he received citizenship in the community of Schönenwerd . From 1971 Tamás worked as a teacher at the old canton school in Aarau . He also conducted the Aarau Orchestra Association and left around 120 compositions.
Tamás' compositional estate has been administered by the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel since 2011 .
