Jörg Althammer (2010)

Jörg Althammer (born June 28, 1962 in Augsburg ) is a German social scientist and economist .

Life

Althammer studied economics , economic and social policy at the University of Augsburg . In 1993 he was with a thesis on incomes policy issues at Heinz Lampert doctorate . In 1998 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the economic theory of the family and family policy.

From 1999 to 2001 Althammer was Gerhard Kleinhenz's representative at the chair for economics with a focus on economic and social policy at the University of Passau . In 2002 he received a call to the University of Bochum to the Department of Social Policy and Social Economics .

In 2008, Althammer followed the call of the KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and took over the chair for business ethics at the economic faculty in Ingolstadt.

Jörg Althammer is married and has three children.

The research focus of Jörg Althammer are the business ethics, the social policy , the family policy , the health economics and family economics . He has published numerous articles on current economic and social policy issues. Althammer is co-author of the “Textbook of Social Policy”, which is used as standard literature at numerous universities.

Jörg Althammer is a member of the European Economic Association , the economic ethics and social policy committee and the committee for population economics at the Verein für Socialpolitik and a member of the Görres Society . Althammer is an advisor to the Commission for Economic and Social Questions of the German Bishops' Conference . From 2001 to 2012 he was a member of the scientific advisory board for family issues at the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMfSFJ) (from 2008 to 2012 deputy chairman) and scientific advisor to the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU) .

In 2014, Jörg Althammer was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick Cardinal O'Brien and invested in the order on October 25, 2014 in the Freiburg Minster by Reinhard Cardinal Marx , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
